At Little Ashford pre-school in Johannesburg, iPads can be found alongside a colorful array of crayons and paintbrushes.

For education entrepreneur, Jena Mukina, this perfectly symbolizes her start-up that aims to infuse the best of traditional teaching models with cutting-edge technology. Jena started her first school in 2009, after being unable to find a suitable day care centre for her own daughter.

The company has grown organically and today eight of her boutique pre-schools can be found in Johannesburg’s trendiest suburbs. A total staff compliment of 135 has been hired to care for more than 500 kids.
